HINSDALE, Ill. – Jordan Tunis and Zion Young combined to score 35 points to lead Schaumburg to a 70-54 victory over Morgan Park in the opening round of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Schaumburg (8-3) built a 13-9 lead after one quarter and pushed its lead up to 30-22 at the half. The Saxons continued to pull away in the second half before finishing with the 16-point victory.

Tunis led all scorers with a game-high 18 points while shooting 8-of-15 from the floor. Young recorded the first double-double of the 2024 tournament, totaling 17 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 8-of-10 from the floor. Tony Horton and Aiden Patterson added seven points apiece for the Saxons.

Schaumburg shot 50.9 percent (27-of-53) from the floor, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from downtown. Morgan Park finished the game shooting 32.8 percent (19-of-58) from the field, including 29.6 percent (8-of-27) from three-point range.

Pierre Stevenson led Morgan Park with 12 points while Rashawn Robinson tallied seven points and 13 rebounds. Nasir Rankin added nine points for the Mustangs.

Schaumburg will face Niles North in tomorrow’s quarterfinal matchup at 8:30 p.m. Morgan Park will take on Morton in a consolation game at 2:00 p.m.
