HINSDALE, Ill. – Niles North’s starting lineup combined to score 70 points as the Vikings defeated Morton 77-46 in the opening round of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Niles North (9-2) never trailed in the contest, scoring the game’s opening bucket just 12 seconds into the game and never looking back. Niles North led 24-6 after one quarter and 41-20 at the half before cruising to the 31-point victory.

Hunter Gawron led the way for Niles North with a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds. Yaris Irby added 14 points and four rebounds while Dylan Lam and Reid Olson scored 11 points apiece. Olson added a game-high seven assists while Mustaf Rexhepi scored eight points for the Vikings.

Niles North shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the floor, including 34.5 percent (10-of-29) from three-point distance. Morton shot 38.6 percent (17-of-44) from the field in the loss.

Donovan Johnson paced the Mustangs with 16 points while Chas Ontiveros added eight points.

Niles North will face the winner of the Schaumburg/Morgan Park game in tomorrow’s quarterfinal at 8:30 p.m. Morton will face the loser of the Schaumburg/Morgan Park contest in a consolation bracket game at 2:00 p.m. .
