HINSDALE, Ill. –Lane Tech outscored Rockford Auburn 20-8 in the fourth quarter to secure a 67-60 victory and advance to the semifinals of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Lane Tech (7-6) rallied from a nine-point deficit with two minutes left in the quarter. The Champions started quickly in the fourth, scoring six straight points and taking the lead at 53-52 with five minutes remaining. After Rockford Auburn (8-5) moved in front 54-53, Lane Tech rattled off a 12-point run to take a 65-54 lead and put the game out of reach. Rockford Auburn led by as many as 10 points early in the second quarter, but Lane Tech pulled even at 31-31 just before the half. The Knights led 34-31 at the half after a three-pointer from Amir Danforth. Dalton Scantlebury took over Lane Tech in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 of the team’s 20 points in the final eight minutes. Scantlebury finished with a team-leading 23 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 9-of-12 from the floor. Zach Mazanowski added 19 points while shooting 7-of-15 from the floor. Braden Rosenkrantz scored 11 points for the Champions while Matt Szafoni totaled eight points and seven rebounds. Lane Tech shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field in the contest, hitting 4-of-21 from three-point range. Rockford Auburn shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the floor, including 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from beyond the arc. Lane Tech will take on Brother Rice in tomorrow’s semifinal at 7:00 p.m. Rockford Auburn will face Maine South in the consolation bracket tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. |
