HINSDALE, Ill. – Mason Lockett poured in 21 points and Oswego East locked up St. Charles East in the second half to earn a 49-37 consolation bracket victory in the day two opener of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Both teams struggled to hit shots from the outside in the first half, going 3-for-15 combined. But St. Charles East was efficient in the paint, converting 61 percent inside the arc. Lockett was the main point producer for Oswego East by 11 points by halftime. The Saints were led by Sam Tisch and Bradley Monkeymeyer with seven points each at the intermission.

After taking a one-point lead into the second half, the Wolfpack (7-5 record) kept the clamps on St. Charles East for the remainder of the game. The Saints (5-6 record) only shot 23 percent from the field in the half and was held scoreless for the opening four minutes of the fourth quarter. Oswego took advantage with a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.

From his point guard position, Lockett was able to get into the paint consistently en route to his game-high point total. He also added seven rebounds, five assists and five steals for the Wolfpack. Damien Lewandowski was next highest on the team with seven points and three steals. Oswego East shot 43 percent on field goals for the game, including 14 percent from three-point range (2 of 14) and 85 percent from the free throw line (11 of 13).

St. Charles East was paced by Tisch with 11 points and six rebounds. Monkemeyer ended up with nine points and Andrew Wolfsmith contributed eight. The Saints were limited to 38 percent on field goals, 21 percent on threes (3 of 14) and 67 percent on free throws (6 of 9).

Oswego East will face the winner of Saint Rita/Wheaton Academy in tomorrow’s consolation matchup at 12:30 p.m. St. Charles East will take on the loser of St. Rita/Wheaton Academy in a consolation game at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
