HINSDALE, Ill. – Nine different players tallied points as the tournament host Hinsdale Central defeated Plainfield East 64-35 and cruised into the quarterfinals of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

A layup by Tyler Thick gave Hinsdale Central (9-2) a 6-5 lead two minutes into the contest and the Red Devils never trailed for the rest of the contest. Hinsdale Central built a 10-point cushion (18-8) after one quarter and led 41-17 at the half before costing to the 29-point victory.

Dillon Orozco led Hinsdale Central with a game-high 16 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor. Eric Kozys added 11 points and three assists while Vince Buzzelis tallied six points and a game-best seven rebounds. Michael Howell added nine points in the win for Hinsdale Central.

Hinsdale Central shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the floor, including 30.0 percent (6-of-20) from downtown. Plainfield East shot 33.3 percent (14-of-42) from the field by just 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from beyond the arc.

Leslie Nii Apa Pobee led the Bengals with 13 points while shooting 6-of-9 from the field. Joshua Stone added six points for Plainfield East.

Hinsdale Central will face Burlington Central in tomorrow’s 7:00 p.m. quarterfinal. Plainfield East will take on Marian Catholic in tomorrow’s consolation bracket game beginning at 12:30 p.m.
