HINSDALE, Ill. – Hinsdale Central rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to edge Brother Rice 52-51 and win the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic, scoring their second tournament title in the past three seasons.

Brother Rice (13-1) led 25-23 at the half and opened up a 10-point cushion in the third quarter. Hinsdale Central (12-2) pulled to within four points after three quarters (37-33). The fourth quarter featured seven lead changes and three ties. A three-pointer from Dillon Dell with 2:25 left put the Red Devils up for good. Brother Rice’s potential game-winning shot came up short as Hinsdale Central came away with the win.

Vincas Buzellis led Hinsdale Central with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists while taking home tournament MVP honors in the process. Dillon Orozco added also earned all-tournament honors after averaging 13.5 points per game over the tournament. Dell finished the contest with 11 points while Michael Howell added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Hinsdale Central shot 51.3 percent (20-of-39) from the floor, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from downtown. Brother Rice shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54) in the loss.

Marcos Gonzales led Brother Rice in the loss, finishing with 24 points and seven rebounds and earning all-tournament honors. Jack Weigus added six points and also earned all-tourney honors for Brother Rice. Caden Workman and John Mikrut both came off the bench to score seven points for the Crusaders.
