HINSDALE, Ill. – Yaris Irby, Reid Olson and Hunter Gawron combined to score 56 points to lead Niles North to a 64-58 win over Lane Tech in the third-place game of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Niles North (11-3) raced out to an early nine-point first quarter lead before Lane Tech (7-8) cut the deficit down to 21-17 after one quarter. The Vikings led 35-30 at the half. Niles North pushed its lead up to 12 points early in the fourth quarter before Lane Tech mounted a rally. The Champions used an 11-0 run to pull to within a point with 2:47 remaining. Niles North finished the game on a 5-0 run to take home the third-place trophy.

Irby led the way for Niles North, finishing with 23 points, while shooting 6-of-10 from three-point range. Olson added 17 points while shooting 6-of-17 and Gawron totaled 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Vikings. Irby and Olson were both named to the all-tournament team for their play.

Niles North shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field, including 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from three-point range. Lane Tech shot 50.0 percent (23-of-46) from the floor and outscored Niles North 34-14 in the paint.

Zach Mazanowski led Lane Tech with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Dalton Scantlebury finished with17 points and seven rebounds. Scantelbury was named to the all-tournament team for Lane Tech.
