HINSDALE, Ill. – Wheaton Academy utilized a 10-1 run in the fourth quarter to beat Morgan Park 57-48 on the last day of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

A slow start by the Warriors put them behind right away, as they made only 1 of 13 field goal attempts to begin the contest. Morgan Park took advantage and led 12-5 after eight minutes of play. However, Wheaton Academy righted the ship in the second quarter and took a 22-18 lead into halftime.

An evenly-played third quarter set up a tense fourth quarter. But a three-point play by Sam Swoboda and five-straight points by Mason Brooke staked Wheaton Academy to a 49-36 lead midway through the period. The Warriors held on from there to get the win.

Wheaton Academy (10-3 record) converted 37 percent of its field goals, 32 percent of its three-pointers (7-22) and 89 percent of its free throws (8-9). Swoboda paced all scorers with 18 points while adding five rebounds and three steals. Tyler Smith posted an all-around box score of 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Sam Thomas put up 11 points.

The Mustangs (8-6 record) made 40 percent of their field goals, 29 percent of their treys (6-21) and 36 percent of their free throws (4-11). Jacque Lewis sank four three-pointers en route to 16 points. Jocahana Pullum tallied seven points, 13 rebounds and three blocks. Morgan Park committed 19 turnovers.
