HINSDALE, Ill. – Oswego East secured a spot in the consolation final of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by defeating Wheaton Academy 64-53. Oswego East (8-5) trailed Wheaton Academy (9-3) 14-10 after one quarter, but the Wolfpack outscored the Warriors 22-8 in the second to lead 32-22 at the half. Oswego East continued to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 22 points before holding on for the 11-point win. Mason Lockett led Oswego East with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Damien Lewandowski added 11 points while Michael Rembert came off the bench to score 13. Oswego East shot 53.3 percent (24-of-45) from the floor, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from downtown. Wheaton Academy shot 32.8 percent (20-of-61) from the floor in the loss. Tyler Smith led Wheaton Academy with 14 points in the loss. Sam Thomas chipped in with nine and Hayden Scroeder scored seven. Jackson Snider collected a team-leading nine rebounds. Oswego East will await the winner of the Marian Catholic/Morgan Park contest in Monday’s consolation championship game at 3:45 p.m. Wheaton Academy will face the loser of the Marian Catholic/Morgan Park game on Monday at 12:30 p.m. |
