HINSDALE, Ill. – Niles North outscored Schaumburg 34-22 in the second half to secure a 64-48 and advance to the semifinals of the 2024 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Niles North (10-2) led 13-10 after one quarter and carried a 30-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Vikings pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Schaumburg (8-4) 19-8 to open up a 15-point cushion. The Vikings led by as many as 18 points before scoring the 16-point victory.

Hunter Gawron led the Vikings with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Reid Olson added 19 points, five boards and four assists while Yaris Irby tallied 15 points. Mustaf Rexhepi added six points and nine rebounds for Niles North.

The Vikins shot 60.9 percent (28-of-46) form the floor, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from downtown. Niles North owned a 33-22 edge in rebounding. Schaumburg shot 37.0 percent (20-of-54) from the floor in the loss.

Tony Horton came off the bench to spark Schaumburg with 15 points. Zion Young and Cam Anderson scored 10 points apiece.

With the victory, Niles North moved into tomorrow’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal against Hinsdale Central. Schaumburg will face Burlington Central in tomorrow's consolation round at 5:15 p.m.
