HINSDALE, Ill. –Oswego East punched its ticket to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a convincing 72-39 win over Morton in the opening round. Oswego East (10-4) built a 21-12 lead after one quarter and then extended its lead to 41-30 at the half. The Wolves exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Morton (3-7) by 20 points in the third quarter to carry a 31-point lead into the final quarter before cruising to the 72-39 win. Mason Lockett led Oswego East with 13 points while Noah Mason added 12 points and nine rebounds. Braydon Murphy added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Wolves shot 52.5 percent (32-of-61) from the floor in the win and outscored Morton 52-16 in the paint. Twon Jones led Morton with 15 points while Joshua Arce added 11 for the Mustangs. Oswego East will take on Maine South in tomorrow’s quarterfinal match-up at 8:30 p.m. Morton will face Lane Tech in a consolation game tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. |
