2022 GAME SIX RECAP: ROCKFORD AUBURN 60, WILLOWBROOK 47 HINSDALE, Ill. – Rockford Auburn jumped out to a big first-quarter lead and rode that advantage to the finish line in a 60-47 victory over Willowbrook in game six of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. The Knights improved their record to 10-3 while the Warriors fell to 1-9. The opening quarter was all Rockford Auburn, as the Knights led 14-4 after Amir Danforth hit a corner three as time expired. Willowbrook couldn't get any offense going, enduring a 1-for-14 shooting slump. Rockford Auburn took its biggest lead of the game midway through the third at 40-24 following another Danforth bucket on the fast break. The Knights cruised into the fourth quarter with a 13-point edge. The Warriors looked to live up to their name and made things uncomfortable in the final period. Despite some sloppy play, Rockford Auburn weathered the storm and emerged with the 60-47 win. In the final box score, Rockford Auburn converted 45.3 percent of its field goals andd 40.0 percent of its treys (10-25). Willowbrook shot 35.3 percent overall and 36.4 percent from long range (4-11). The Knights' ball movement resulted in a 17-7 assist advantage. The rebounding category went to the Warriors 35-31. Turnovers were even at 16 each. Agee scored 17 points while sinking 4 of 8 threes to pace RA. Danforth and Rakim Chaney added 11 points apiece. For Willowbrook, guard Noah Campbell scored a game-high 22 points. Isaac Sobieszczyk submitted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rockford Auburn will face Marian Catholic in Tuesday's quarterfinal at 7:00 p.m. Willowbrook will play Maine South in Tuesday's consolation bracket at 12:30 p.m. |
