2022 GAME FOUR RECAP: DEPAUL PREP 59, MORTON 37

HINSDALE, Ill. – Three players reached double figures in scoring to lead DePaul Prep past Morton 59-37 and into the quarterfinals of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Morton (5-5) built an early lead, carrying an 11-9 advantage into the second quarter. The Mustangs held a slim 25-24 lead at the half. DePaul (6-4) quickly moved in front in the third, outscoring Morton 19-8 in the third quarter and pulling away 16-4 in the fourth quarter for the 59-37 win.

Maurice Thomas led DePaul with 17 points and four rebounds. Peter Chambers added 15 points and three assists while Jonas Johnson finished with a double-double of 13 points and 18 rebounds. The trio combined to total 45 points, outscoring the entire Morton squad in the process. The Rams shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) from the field and dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Mustangs 40-24.

Morton shot 33.3 percent (15-of-45) from the floor. Fabien Tucker led the team in the loss with 19 points, hitting on 5-of-9 attempts from downtown. Victor Garrett added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Morton will play Richards in tomorrow’s consolation round at 11:00 a.m. DePaul Prep takes on Morgan Park in tomorrow’s quarterfinal at 5:15 p.m.
