2022 GAME TWO RECAP: OSWEGO EAST 58, LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL 51

HINSDALE, Ill. – Oswego East overcame a slow start to topple Lincoln-Way Central 58-51 and advance to the quarterfinals of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Lincoln-Way Central (2-8) jumped out quickly, leading 15-10 after one quarter and building a nine-point cushion early in the second quarter. Oswego East (11-2) slowly chipped away at the lead, pulling to within three points (27-24) at the half.

The Wolfpack outscored Lincoln-Way Central 15-5 in the third quarter to surge in front and never trailed for the rest of the contest.

Oswego East shot 50.0 percent (19-of-38) from the field, including 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from downtown. The Wolfpack won the battle on the glass 22-14.

Bryce Shoto and Mekhi Lowery led the way for Oswego East with 14 points apiece. Shoto added a game-high eight assists while Jehvion Starwood chipped in with 11 points. Mason Blanco scored seven while Ryan Johnson added six points and five rebounds.

Lincoln-Way Central shot 54.1 percent (20-of-37) from the floor, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from three-point distance. Jack Barrett led the Knights with 18 points while Jack Novak added 11. Braden Meyer came off the bench to score 10.

Lincoln-Way Central will face Glenbard East in a consolation bracket game tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Oswego East will tangle with Stevenson in tomorrow’s first quarterfinal at 3:45 p.m.
