2022 GAME 26 RECAP: WILLOWBROOK 65, MORTON 61 HINSDALE, Ill. – Willowbrook used a strong third quarter and then held off a fourth-quarter rally from Morton to score a 65-61 win in a consolation game of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Morton (6-7) jumped out to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter and led 27-24 at the half. Willowbrook (3-10) answered back in the third, outscoring Morton 26-10 to lead 50-37 at the start of the fourth quarter. Willowbrook scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 18 points. Morton chipped the lead down to 10 points with 2:23 remaining and cut the deficit down to four after a Fabien Tucker 3-pointer with 41 seconds left, but the Mustangs came no closer as Willowbrook hung on for the four-point victory. Noah Campbell paced Willowbrook in the win with 22 points and three assists. He shot 9-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Isaac Sobieszczyk added a double-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Luke Davis scored 14. Jimmy Degnan came off the bench to score 11. The Warriors shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56) as a team, including 50.0 percent (10-of-20) from downtown. Victor Garrett paced Morton in the loss, finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Adrian Anderson added 15 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and six steals while Tucker finished with 13 points. Morton shot only 37.5 percent (24-of-64) and struggled from downtown, hitting just 5-of-23 attempts (21.7 percent) from beyond the arc. |
