2022 GAME 23 RECAP: OSWEGO EAST 62, DEPAUL PREP 47 HINSDALE, Ill. – Mekhi Lowery flirted with a triple-double to lead Oswego East past DePaul Prep 62-47 and into the title game of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic for a second straight season. Lowery totaled 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists while leading Oswego East to the victory. Oswego East (13-2) led from wire-to-wire, scoring the first 10 points of the game and never looking back. The Wolfpack led 35-22 at the half. DePaul Prep (7-5) trailed by 17 early in the third quarter, but mounted a rally, pulling to within five points with four minutes remaining, but Oswego East closed the game on a 14-3 run to pull away for the win. Oswego East shot 56.0 percent (28-of-50) from the floor, including 26.7 percent (4-of-15) from downtown. The Wolfpack dominated on the glass, outrebounding DePaul Prep 33-14 and outscoring the Rams 34-14 in the paint. In addition to Lowery, Ryan Johnson pumped in 13 points to go with six rebounds and three assists while Bryce Shoto tallied 12 points and Mason Blanco came off the bench to score eight. DePaul shot 40.0 percent (16-of-40) from the floor, including 33.3 percent (8-of-24) from 3-point distance. Maurice Thomas led the Rams in the loss with 18 points. Peter Chambers added 11 points while Makai Kvamme scored seven. DePaul Prep will face the loser of the Marian Catholic/Hinsdale Central contest in tomorrow’s third-place game at 7:00 p.m. Oswego East will take on the Marian Catholic/Hinsdale Central winner in tomorrow’s championship game at 8:30 p.m. |
