2022 GAME 20 RECAP: MAINE SOUTH vs. ST. CHARLES EAST

HINSDALE, Ill. – Maine South took advantage of two single-digit quarters by St. Charles East to win the contest, 58-46, and to advance to the consolation bracket championship in day three of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

The Hawks led 30-20 over the Saints at the half, but St. Charles East stuck around and was outscored by just two points, 28-26, in the second half.                                                                     

Maine South (5-8) was led by Panayiotis Sotos with 21 point. Kaden Karstens added in 10 points, five assists and five boards, while Tyler Sierra contributed nine points in the win for the Hawks.    

Jack Borri led the way for the Saints with 16 points. Jacob Vrankovich and Brad Monkemeyer scored 10 points apiece and grabbed six and four rebounds respectively in the loss for St. Charles East (6-7). 

The Hawks shot 48.9 percent (22-of-45) from the field, including 50.0 percent (10-of-20) from downtown compared to the Saints 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the field and 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from behind the arc. 

Maine South will face Lincoln-Way Central in the consolation bracket championship on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. St. Charles East will take-on Richards at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
