2022 GAME ONE RECAP: STEVENSON 82, GLENBARD EAST 36

HINSDALE, Ill. – Stevenson cruised into the second round of the 2022 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a convincing 82-36 victory over Glenbard East in the opening game of the 2022 Tournament.

Leading 6-4 after two minutes of play, Stevenson (9-1) closed the final six minutes of the opening quarter on a 28-3 run. The Patriots had built a commanding 54-17 lead at the half and cruised to the 42-point victory in the second half.

Stevenson shot 54.7 percent (35-of-64) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from downtown. The Patriots dominated inside, outscoring Glenbard East (3-9) 54-22 in the paint. The Patriots outscored the Rams 36-10 on fast breaks and converted 25 Glenbard East turnovers into 33 points.

Brandon Sorokin led Stevenson with 17 points, shooting 7-of11. Aidan Bardic added 14 points while Christian Uremovich added 12 points and seven rebounds. Jack Dabbs came off the bench to finish with 10 points and five rebounds.

Ari Pierson and Trevor Rehnstrom led Glenbard East with nine points apiece in the loss.

Glenbard East will face the loser of the Oswego East/Lincoln-Way Central contest tomorrow at 9:30 am in the consolation contest. Stevenson will await the winner of Oswego East/Lincoln-Way Central in tomorrow’s quarterfinal at 3:45 p.m.
