2022 GAME 15 RECAP:MARIAN CATHOLIC vs. ROCKFORD AUBURN

HINSDALE, Ill. – Marian Catholic took advantage of a seven-point second quarter by Rockford Auburn to defeat the Knights 54-49 in the quarter-finals of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Marian Catholic (9-4) trailed by seven at the end of the opening quarter, but outscored Rockford Auburn 19-7 in the second quarter to give the Spartans the lead for the remainder of the contest and secure them a spot in the semifinals.               

Rockford Auburn (10-4) was led by Adrian Agee with 18 points and three boards. Following closely behind was Rakim Chaney who finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Amir Danforth chipped in seven points off the bench for the Knights.                                             

Leading the way for the Spartans was Quentin Jones with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Donovan Juzang finished with 17 points and dished out three assists. Tre Davis added in 10 points for Marian Catholic in the win.                           

The Knights shot 36.4 percent (16-of-44) from the field, including 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from downtown compared to the Spartans 51.2 percent (22-of-43) from the field and 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from behind the arc. 

Marian Catholic will face the winner of the Hinsdale Central and Homewood-Flossmoor game in Wednesday’s semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Rockford Auburn will take-on the loser of the HCHS and HFHS contest in the fifth-place bracket at 5:15 p.m.
