2021 GAME 25 RECAP: WILLOWBROOK vs. GLENBARD EAST HINSDALE, Ill. – Willowbrook's big offensive run in the first half put the game out of reach early as the Warriors cruised past Glenbard East 64-27 on the final day of the 2021 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Willowbrook set the tone and went on a 19-2 run over a 10-minute span from midway through the first quarter to midway through the second quarter. The Warriors led 25-6 at that point. The Rams cut into the deficit to within 13 points at 28-15 after a three-pointer by Trevor Rehnstrom. At halftime, the score stood at 33-17. Glenbard East struggled with its shot in the second half, hitting only 3 of 20 from the field. Meanwhile, Willowbrook kept rolling along as the Warriors led by at least 20 points for the final 12 minutes of the game. The Warriors improved to 5-8 on the season and were efficient from the field (49.1 percent) and three-point range (6 of 14, 42.9 percent). Marquel Saleek paced the squad with 15 points, including 14 in the first half. He also snagged five steals and six rebounds. Willowbrook led the rebounding battle 35-24. Glenbard East's Rehnstrom tied the tournament record for three-pointers with 16 total. He finished with a team-high eight points. Tyrese Buffkin posted six points and nine rebounds. The Rams (3-11 record) committed 19 turnovers, shot 21.1 percent from the field and 10.5 percent from deep (2-19). |
