Box Score

HINSDALE, Ill. - St. Charles East (1-10) got the monkey off its back on Thursday, etching their first win of the season, 66-53 over Glenbard East (3-9) at the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Trevor Rehnstrom broke the HCHC single-game record for 3-pointers in a game, firing 8-of-14 through the twine, finishing with 28 points.

The Saints controlled the game from the tip, jumping out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter, shooting 50 percent from the floor. It was St. Charles’ poise in the paint that resulted in a 30-point advantage, with 28 of the team’s 40 points in the paint coming on the fast break.

Glenbard East struggled to protect the ball throughout the contest, racking up 29 turnovers, which St. Charles turned into 35 points.

The Rams outscored the Saints 22-16 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.

Rehnstrom was the showstopper on Thursday, finishing 8-of-14 from behind the arc, setting a new single-game record for the Holiday Classic.
