2019 GAME NINE RECAP: MAINE SOUTH 46, LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL 37 HINSDALE, Ill. – Maine South outscored Lincoln-Way Central 26-19 in the second half to score a 46-37 win and advance to the consolation round semifinals of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Maine South (5-5) struggled out of the gate, scoring just two points in the first quarter and trailing Lincoln-Way Central (6-4) 8-2 after one. Maine South surged back in the second, pulling in front 20-18 at the half. The Hawks continued to add to their lead in the third, outscoring Lincoln-Way Central 14-5 in the third to open up an 11-point cushion. Lincoln-Way Central came no closer than a nine-point deficit for the remainder of the game as Maine South moved on with the nine-point victory. Maine South shot 42.1 percent (16-of-38) from the floor and controlled the game inside, outscoring Lincoln-Way Central 22-6 in the pain and outrebounding the Knights 34-23. Marko Anderson led the way for Maine South with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Casey Clark added 13 points while Sean Gallery finished with nine points and six rebounds. Lincoln-Way Central shot 27.5 percent (11-of-40) from the floor, but hit just 7-of-30 attempts (23.3 percent) from beyond the arc. Sean Curran led the Knights with 16 points in the loss. Maine South will face the winner of the Rockford Auburn/Glenbrook North contest in tomorrow’s consolation semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Lincoln-Way Central will face the loser of the Rockford Auburn/Glenbrook North game tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. |
