2019 GAME EIGHT RECAP: DEPAUL PREP 75, RICHARDS 61 HINSDALE, Ill. – Lance Mosley and Tyler Johnson combined for 50 points to lead DePaul Prep to a 75-61 win over Richards in the opening round of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. DePaul (10-1) took a 14-12 lead after the first quarter but Richards (6-4) battled back to tie the score on three sperate occasions in the second quarter. With the score tied at 22-all with 2:30 remaining, DePaul closed the half on an 11-2 run to open up a 33-24 lead at the half. DePaul carried a 12-point cushion into the fourth quarter before building a 20-point cushion en route to the 14-point win. DePaul shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the floor, including 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from downtown. The Rams outrebounded Richards 33-21 and turned 17 offensive rebounds into 24 second-chance points. Johnson led the way for DePaul with 27 points, shooting 11-of-21 from the floor. Mosley added 23 points on an 8-of-18 shooting performance. Richards finished the game shooting 50.0 percent (23-of-46) from the floor, but only 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from three-point range. Albert Jones led the Bulldogs with 24 points and 10 rebounds. KaJuan Wines added 20 points while Anthony Taylor scored 10. DePaul Prep will play Westinghouse in Thursday’s quarterfinal at 8:30 p.m. Richards will play Hinsdale Central in the consolation bracket on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. |
