2019 GAME 27: ROCKFORD AUBURN 59, T.F. SOUTH 55 HINSDALE, Ill. – Rockford Auburn defeated T.F. South 59-55 in overtime in a consolation game at the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Rockford Auburn (8-6) trailed for much of the contest, but rallied to force overtime and come away with the win. T.F. South (6-8) grabbed a 12-8 lead after one quarter and led 21-19 at the half. T.F. South increased its lead to six points early in the third and led 33-29 after three. Rockford Auburn used a 5-0 run in the fourth to move in front 42-41 for the first time since the first quarter. T.F. South answered back, taking a two-point lead after a pair of free throws from Isaiah Lewis with 42 seconds remaining. Rockford Auburn split two free throws to cut the lead in half, and T.F. South followed by splitting a pair to send its lead back to two with 17 seconds left. Mar’Quall Smith hit two free throws with just over two seconds remaining to pull Rockford Auburn even at 47-all and send the game into overtime. In the extra period, the Knights scored the first six points and then opened up a seven-point cushion en route to the four-point win. Rockford Auburn shot 38.0 percent (19-of-50) from the floor in the win. Javin Davis and Smith finished with 17 points and seven rebounds apiece. Javante Mackey added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds while Haniefe Johnscon scored 13. T.F. South shot 37.5 percent form the floor (21-of-56) but just 12.5 percent (1-of-8) from three-point range. Elijah Watson paced the Rebels in the loss with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lewis added 11 points and five rebounds. |
