2019 GAME 16: DEPAUL PREP 61, WESTINGHOUSE 43 HINSDALE, Ill. – DePaul Prep secured the final semifinal spot in the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by scoring a 61-43 win over Westinghouse. Westinghouse (5-7) had just one lead in the opening quarter while DePaul (11-1) led for the majority of the half. The Rams led 10-6 after the opening quarter and quickly pushed their lead to double digits early in the second. The Rams led by 13 (24-11) following a Lance Mosley three-pointer with 3:30 remaining, but Westinghouse scored the final eight points of the half, including a pair of three-pointers from Devin Davis to close to within five points (24-19) at the half. DePaul opened the second half with a 13-2 run to extend its lead up to 16 points (37-21) with just under three minutes remaining. Westinghouse managed to pull to within 11 points (39-28) at the end of three quarters. DePaul kept its lead in double digits for the remainder of the contest, while cruising to the 18-point victory. DePaul shot 34.7 percent (17-of-49) from the floor, but was solid from the free throw line, hitting 21-of-27 attempts (77.8 percent). Tyler Johnson and Lance Mosley led the Rams in the win, finishing with 17 points apiece. Rasheed Bello added 11 points and eight rebounds while Cam Lewis totaled nine points and nine boards. Westinghouse struggled with its shooting, hitting just 27.3 percent (15-of-55) from the field and 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from downtown. Devin Davis led the Warriors in the loss with 15 points while Kier Jordan scored nine. DePaul will face Marian Catholic in tomorrow’s second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Westinghouse will face St. Rita in the fifth-place bracket at 5:45 p.m. |
