2019 GAME 13 RECAP: HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR 83, ST. CHARLES EAST 54 HINSDALE, Ill. – Homewood-Flossmoor led for nearly 29 minutes of action as the Vikings cruised past St. Charles East 83-54 and into the semifinals of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. St. Charles East (6-4) scored the opening bucket of the game for the Saints’ only lead of the contest. Homewood-Flossmoor (9-1) quickly took control, opening up a 10-3 lead midway through the quarter. The Vikings led 17-11 after one quarter. Leading by six with two minutes left in the half, the Vikings scored the next nine points to go into halftime up 37-22. H-F continued to pull away, scoring the first 10 points of the third quarter to open up a 25-point lead. The Vikings led by 27 points (62-35) after three quarter and pushed their lead over 30 points midway through the fourth before coasting to the 29-point win. Homewood-Flossmoor shot 61.1 percent (33-of-54) from the floor, including 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from downtown. The Vikings outscored St. Charles East 48-20 in the pain. H-F also set a new single-game tournament record by dishing out 26 assists. RJ Ogom paced Homewood-Floossmoor in the win, finishing with 22 points and six rebounds. Josiah Plmer finished with 18 points while Joel Watts scored 13 and totaled five assists. Brandon Brewer and Kenton Pryor totaled six assists apiece. Pryor added seven points while Brewer totaled six points. St. Charles East shot 29.0 percent (18-of-62) from the floor, including 24.2 percent (8-of-33) from beyond the arc. Thomas Ditsworth led the Saints with 13 points while Sean Sullivan scored 10. Homewood-Flossmoor will await the winner of the Oswego East/Stevenson game in tomorrow’s semifinal at 7:00 p.m. St. Charles East will take on the loser of the Oswego East/Stevenson game tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. in the fifth-place bracket. |
