2019 GAME 10 RECAP: ROCKFORD AUBURN 54, GLENBROOK NORTH 44 HINSDALE, Ill. – Rockford Auburn erased a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Glebrook North 54-44 in the consolation bracket of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Glenbrook North (4-9) raced out to a 15-10 lead late in the first quarter and lead 15-12 after one. The Spartans pushed their lead up to eight points (20-12) early in the second and led 22-17 at the half. The Spartans were up seven late in the third, but Rockford Auburn (7-5) closed the final two minutes of the quarter on a 9-0 run to build a 32-30 lead after three. The Knights opened the fourth quarter with a 14-6 run over the first six minutes to extend their lead to 10. Glenbrook North cut the deficit down to four with one minute remaining, but Rockford Auburn hit four free throws and a layup down the stretch to pull away for the 10-point win. Rockford Auburn shot 42.9 percent (18-of-42) from the floor, including 40 percent (4-of-10) form downtown. Haniefe Johnson led the way for the Knights, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. Javante Mackey added 11 points while Javin Davis totaled nine points and eight boards. Glenbrook North shot 44.2 percent (19-of-43) in the loss. Ben Foster led the Spartans with 13 points while Jonathan Koo totaled 11 and three assists. Rockford Auburn will take on Maine South in tomorrow’s consolation semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Glenbrook North will face Lincoln-Way Central tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. |
