2018 GAME NINE RECAP: Richards 45, Glenbrook North 42 HINSDALE, Ill. – Trevon Jones totaled 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Richards past Glenbrook North 45-42 and into the consolation round semifinals of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Glenbrook North (7-7) jumped out to a 13-8 lead after the first quarter and the Spartans carried a 21-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. Richards (8-3) rallied back in the second half. The Bulldogs surged in front on five straight points from Kajuan Wines and extended their lead up to five points (34-29) at the end of three quarters. Four straight free throws put Richards back in front by three. A Frank Siegien layup cut the deficit back down to one with six seconds left, but Richards put the game away from the foul line. Richards shot 37.5 percent (15-of-40) from the floor in the win, but struggled from downtown, hitting juts 1-of-9 attempts (11.1 percent). Jones led the way with a game-high 19 points while also pulling down seven rebounds. Wines added eight points while Albert Jones and Marquel Porter totaled six points apiece. Glenbrook North shot 34.9 percent (15-of-43) in the loss, including 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from three-point distance. Siegien led the way with 10 points and six rebounds. Brian Johnson and Koo added seven points each while Alex Press pulled down seven rebounds. Richards will face the winner of the Urban Prep Englewood/Stevenson game in tomorrow’s consolation semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Glenbrook North will face the loser of the Urban Prep Englewood/Stevenson game tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. |
