2018 GAME 26 RECAP: Maine South 43, Glenbrook North 35 HINSDALE, Ill. – Fillip Bulatovic and Essam Hamwi combined for 31 points and 12 rebounds to lead Maine South to a 43-35 win over Glenbrook North in a consolation game of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Maine South (10-5) jumped out to an early 12-8 lead after the first quarter and led 20-17 at the break. Glenbrook North (8-8) pulled even at 22-22 early in the third, but the Hawks reestablished a four-point cushion after three quarters. Back-to-back three pointers put the Spartans up by two to start the fourth quarter, but Maine South scored the next 11 points to open up a 39-30 lead with 1:18 remaining. Glenbrook North came no closer than six points down the stretch as Maine South held on for the win. Maine South shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from the floor and led the rebounding battle 30-19. The Hawks outscored the Spartans 24-8 in the paint. Bulatovic led the Hawks with 17 points and six rebounds while Hawmi finished with 14 points and six boards. Dan Crane added six points and six rebounds for the Hawks. Glenbrook North shot 31.7 percent (13-of-41) from the floor, including 30.8 percent (13-of-41) from three-point distance. Brian Johnson led the Spartans in the loss with 17 points, connecting on 5-of-10 attempts from three-point range. |
