2018 GAME 24 RECAP: Homewood-Flossmoor 69, Oswego East 55

HINSDALE, Ill. – Isaac Stanback totaled a game-high double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead Homewood-Flossmoor past Oswego East 69-55 and into the championship game of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Homewood-Flossmoor (8-3) scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed in the opening half. The Vikings led by as 13 in the game’s first eight minutes and carried a 21-10 lead into the second quarter.

Oswego East (10-2) cut the deficit down to seven with three minutes left in the second quarter, but Homewood-Flossmoor scored the final eight points of the quarter to open up a 33-18 lead at the half. Six different Vikings scored in the opening half while holding the Wolves’ leading scorer, RayJ Dennis to no points in the first 16 minutes.

Oswego East came no closer than a 12-point deficit in the third quarter before managing to trim the deficit down to nine points with three minutes left to play. Homewood-Flossmoor scored the next five points to push its lead back up to 14 points and put the game out of reach.

H-F shot 44.4 percent (20-of-45) from the floor, including 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from downtown. The Vikings shot 72.7 percent (24-of-33) from the foul line while outrebounding Oswego East 37-31.

Stanback led the charge for the Vikings with 23 points and 15 rebounds while also blocking three shots. He shot 5-of-12 from the floor and 12-of-18 from the foul line. Maurion Scott added 14 points and seven boards while Trace Williams scored 11. RJ Ogom came off the bench to score 13.

Oswego East hit 36.4 percent of its shots (20-of-55) from the field and 36.4 percent (8-of-22) from downtown.  Dennis heated up in the second half, finishing with 17 points while Kamron Battle totaled a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Sam Schultz chipped in with 10.

Homewood-Flossmoor will face Marian Catholic in tomorrow’s championship game at 8:30 p.m. Oswego East will take on DePaul Prep in the third-place game at 7:00 p.m.
