2018 GAME 19 RECAP: Stevenson 59, Richards 48 HINSDALE, Ill. – Luke Chieng scored a game-high 22 points to lead Stevenson past Richards 59-48 and into the consolation title game of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. Richards (8-4) jumped out to an early seven-point lead in the opening quarter and led 14-10 after the game’s first eight minutes of action. Stevenson (11-3) battled back in the second quarter to pull even at 27-all at halftime. Stevenson took control of the contest early in the third quarter. The Patriots opened the half on a 15-4 run over the first 4:30 of action, taking an 11-point lead in the process. Stevenson continued to pull away in the fourth, extending their lead to 16 points and never letting the Bulldogs come any closer than a nine-point deficit. Chieng was one of three Patriots to crack double figures in scoring, finishing with a game-high 22 points while shooting 7-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-7 from downtown. John Ittounas added 14 points while Matt Kaznikov chipped in with 10. Robert Holmes added 15 rebounds and four assists in the win. The Patriots shot 52.9 percent (18-of-34) as a team, including 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from beyond the arc. Richards finished the game shooting 35.8 percent (19-of-53) from the floor. Paul Zalinkas and Sean Willis led the Bulldogs with 13 points apiece. Trevon Jones finished with nine points and eight boards while Albert Jones totaled six points and nine rebounds. Stevenson will face the winner of the Hinsdale Central/Rockford Auburn game in tomorrow’s 3:45 p.m. consolation championship game. Richards will face the loser of the Hinsdale Central/Rockford Auburn contest tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. |
