2016 GAME 26 RECAP: CRETE-MONEE 74, GLENBROOK NORTH 67

HINSDALE, Ill. - Create-Monee head coach Tom Cappel recorded his 599th career victory when his squad upended Glenbrook North 74-67 in a consolation game of the 2016 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Crete-Monee (8-5) raced out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 13 points in the second before Glenbrook North (7-7) closed the final 4:30 of action with a 10-1 run to pull to within four points (26-22) at the break. The Spartans pulled to within three points early in the third quarter, but Crete-Monee responded by outscoring the Spartans 19-10 over the duration of the quarter to build a 46-34 lead after three quarters. Crete-Monee led by as many as 16 points in the fourth before coasting to the seven-point victory.

Crete-Monee shot 64.6 percent (31-of-48) from the floor and scored 44 of their 74 points in the paint. Malik Hardmon powered the Warriors in the win, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Dwayne Rose added 20 points while Carrington Bass scored 14 and Marquis Kennedy had 12.

Glenbrook North shot 60.0 percent (30-of-50) from the field and scored 54 points in the paint. Tommy Gertner scored 22 points while James Karis added 21 points, eight assists and seven steals. Sean Merrigan scored 10 for the Spartans.
