2016 GAME 18 RECAP: CRETE-MONEE 56, RICHARDS 53
Crete-Monee (7-5) raced out to an 8-0 lead to start the contest and led by as many as 10 points in the opening quarter. The Warriors pushed their lead up to 14 points in the second quarter and carried an 11-point lead (36-25) into the locker room at halftime. Richards (5-6) came roaring back in the second half. Trailing by 13 early in the third, the Bulldogs used a 16-5 run to close to within two following a Juwan Reed jumper. Richards trailed by just four after three quarters. Richards closed to within two points on two occasions in the fourth quarter, but Crete-Monee hit a late free throw to hold on for the three-point win. Malik Hardman led the way cor Crete-Monee with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, both game highs. Dwayne Rose added 10 points and six boards while Marquis Kennedy added nine points and seven rebounds. The Warriors shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) from the floor, but just 15.4 recent (2-of-13) from downtown. Crete-Monee turned 22 Richards' turnovers into 21 points. Richards shot 37.0 percent (20-of-54) from the field, including 24.0 percent (6-of-25) from beyond the arc. Jaylan Catledge led the Bulldogs with 15 points and five rebounds in the loss while Reed totaled nine points. Crete-Monee will take on Glenbrook North in a consolation game on Friday (December 30) at 11:00 a.m. Richards will meet Urban Prep on Friday at 9:30 a.m. |
