HINSDALE, Ill. - Saint Viator secured a spot in the consolation semifinals of the 2016 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 72-66 win over Richards.

Three players reached double figures for Saint Viator (4-7) as the Lions withstood a 26-point effort from Richards' Jaylan Catledge.

With the score tied at 3-3, Saint Viator opened up a 14-4 run over the next 2:40 to take a 17-7 lead. Richards used a pair of three-pointers from Juwan Reed to spark an 8-0 run to pull to within two points, but a three-pointer from Jack Geary gave Saint Viator a 22-17 lead after one.

Saint Viator used a 7-0 run early in the second to push their lead back to double digits and the Lions led 37-29 at the half. Saint Viator led by as many as 13 points in the second half before holding off a late charge from Richards. The Bulldogs used a 14-5 run over 3:30 to close to within four with 33 seconds remaining, but a pair of free throws down the stretch helped Saint Viator secure the six-point victory.

Jeremiah Hernandez led Saint Viator in the win, finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds while J.R. Cison totaled 14 points and a game-high six assists. Peter Lambesis finished with 13 points and four assists. The Lions shot 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from the floor, including 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from downtown.

Catledge powered Richards in the loss, finishing with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds, both game highs. Reed added 13 points for the Bulldogs. Richards shot 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field, including 25.0 percent (4-of-16) from beyond the arc.

Saint Viator will face the winner of the Stevenson/Crete-Monee contest in Thursday's consolation semifinal at 2:00 p.m. Richards will take on the loser of the Stevenson/Crete-Monee contest in a consolation game on Thursday (December 29) at 11:00 a.m.
